If you are visiting the Channel region, check out the Channel Heritage Museum. It's on the way to Gordon (1755 Channel Highway, Margate).
It has many interesting exhibits and is open from 10am until 4pm Wednesday to Sunday (but check at their web site or ring the museum on (03) 6267 2333 to verify this).
Well worth a visit!
